California American Water and related Charitable Foundation donate to California Wildfire Relief Efforts

Relief efforts for the victims and communities impacted by the recent Northern California wildfires have received a generous donation from California American Water (CAW) and the American Water Charitable Foundation (AWCF). AWCF, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and CAW recently announced a $100,000 grant to the Redwood Credit Union Community Fund, North Bay Fire Relief for individuals and families impacted by the wildfires in Northern California. Funding has been made possible through the AWCF’s Disaster Relief Grant and California American Water.

“These devastating wildfires have directly impacted our customers and our employees and the American Water Charitable Foundation is pleased to join the many others who have contributed their time and resources to support the people impacted by this natural disaster,” said Laura Martin, president, American Water Charitable Foundation. “We understand how critical clean, potable water is in our daily lives and in times of emergencies, and we hope this contribution can provide some assistance in the communities where water or wastewater service has been disrupted.”

Brett Martinez, Redwood Credit Union’s president and CEO, spoke about the need for donations to assist the devastated north bay area; donations in addition to that donated by CAW and AWCF can be made through www.redwoodcu.org or direct at www.redwoodcu.org/northbayfirerelief.

“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the fires,” said Martinez. “We’re supporting our Members, employees and communities in a variety of ways with their financial needs. We’re also accepting financial donations for the fire relief efforts and victims of these devastating fires. We know there’s a long road ahead, but the message to those who have lost so much is this—your community cares and is with you. We’re here to help.”

“These fires destroyed about a quarter of our service district in Larkfield,” said California American Water President Richard Svindland. “Our employees, many of whom themselves had been evacuated, have worked around the clock amidst this destruction. While I am proud of their work in having successfully restored service to most of the remaining homes and businesses there, we have many customers who will be displaced for years.”
