California drought leaves residents seeking financial assistance

Because the California drought has had a significant impact in the Central Valley, emergency programs for affected workers are popping up across the region. Tulare County, in particular, has seen an increase in needed assistance since the California drought came to fruition.

Tulare County alone has seven emergency rent assistance agencies, eight bill payment assistance agencies and 23 agencies that provide prepared meals.

The county’s resource for assistance, known as Tulare County 2-1-1, is designed to help residences that are in need of information, financial assistance and housing, among a long list of services.

“Life is unpredictable. A job loss, dried up well, mental health problems, natural disasters, and many other forces can impact your life,” a Tulare County 2-1-1 brochure reads. “We believe that finding the help you need should be simple because the sooner you can find help, the sooner you can get back on your feet again.”
