Building Industry to host 15th annual Southern California Water Conference

The Building Industry Association of Southern California (BIASC) has announced the 2021 Southern California Water Conference for the Baldy View Chapter will take place August 13, 2021 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Ontario, Calif. The conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. preceded by a networking breakfast at 7 a.m.

The conference will feature topics surrounding water and housing, supply, affordability and efficiency as well as an update on the Delta Conveyance. Attendees can expect in-depth discussions on these topics, a question and answer session with the conference panels and featured speakers who are experts in their field.

Also on the agenda is a keynote presentation by Jennifer Pierre, General Manager for the State Water Contractors. She will discuss what the region can anticipate and what measures need to be taken to ensure The Delta Conveyance project continues to move forward.

“The Building Industry Association of Southern California, Baldy View Chapter is ecstatic to host this informative event addressing key challenges and topics our industry faces by the water sector,” said BIASC CEO Jeff Montejano. “Guests will have an opportunity to hear from strategically assembled panels with a diverse group of intelligent individuals who are experts on the matter.”

Water issues are plentiful in California – — an unrelenting drought, declining Delta smelt, voluntary conservation measures, the unintended consequences of conservation, rate hikes, algal bloom, the use of wastewater, groundwater mining, excessive lead, careers in water management, rising infrastructure costs, “Twin Tunnels,” Salton Sea restoration, turf removal rebates, declining Colorado River water, watersheds, farrowed agricultural fields… the list becomes almost endless.

Though not all of these issues will be included in the conference’s agenda, the event provides a forum to assess Southern California’s growing population and the demand for more water. It will be an opportunity for attendees to discuss these issues and share ideas with peers.

More than 20 local businesses are sponsoring the water conference; the BIA Baldy View Chapter is the Presenting Sponsor for the conference. Attendees will include government officials, premier water experts, civic leaders, business leaders and community stakeholders to discuss California’s water challenges and provide solution-driven strategies to overcome these issues.
