California Nevada Section of AWWA to offer three webinars in May

Agencies throughout the state have cancelled or postponed their events due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the American Water Works Association has not escaped the effects of the stay-at-home orders either with the cancellation of their Spring Conference.

However, the California Nevada Section of AWWA is offering three webinars in the month of May. Registration is $80 for members and $100 for non-members.

May 5 –  Multi Barrier Approach to Safe Drinking Water:

This workshop will look at protecting public health: from source water protection to proper water treatment and then maintaining water quality in the distribution system.  The workshop will cover daily operations, best practices and basic regulations that relate to a water utility.  It will also cover contaminants of emerging concern, protecting the public from lead and copper in drinking water and how to reduce disinfection byproducts.

May 11 – Cross Connection:

This webinar will present an overview of the administrative and technical procedures required for a cross connection program, including system inspections, hazard evaluation, identification of cross connection problems and backflow prevention devices, shut-down tests, and reclaimed water systems.  This workshop is intended as a primer or review for cross-connection control personnel and utilizes AWWA M-14 Manual of Cross Connection Control.

May 13 & 14 – Recycled Water:

This webinar is designed to provide recycled water system designers and users in the state of California with the necessary information required to become fluent in recycled water systems.  The workshop is intended for recycled water users and potential users; landscape and maintenance personnel, property owners and managers but includes sufficient information for system designers and contractors to make a smooth transition to recycled systems.
