Webinar series promotes water conservation and public health

Walnut Valley Water District (WVWD) has partnered with San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District (SGVMVCD) to offer residents a free webinar series that promotes water conservation and public health.

“The world of water and mosquitoes is deeply intertwined in our neighborhoods,” said Levy Sun, SGVMVCD Public Information Officer. “It only makes sense that mosquito control and Walnut Valley Water District collaborate to inform community members on how they can protect themselves against mosquitoes and apply smart irrigation practices for increased water savings.”

Residents can learn:

• How mosquitoes are a threat to your health and your community
• Three easy mosquito prevention actions: Tip, Toss, and Protect
• Smart irrigation practices including proper maintenance of rain barrels and rebate information
• How to give your sprinkler system a water wise tune up

“WVWD is excited to partner with SGVMVCD to help bridge the gap in knowledge between smart water conservation practices and public health,” said WVWD General Manager, Erik Hitchman. “During the winter, we encourage our customers to apply water efficient practices for direct water savings in and around their home and to help safeguard against the rise of mosquitoes in our service area.”

The webinar series launched last week and can be viewed by visiting www.wvwd.com/classes-and-workshops/.
