Cal Water has announced that a water infrastructure upgrade in Redondo Beach will begin July 6 and is expected to be completed by August.
The project includes the installation of 1,790 feet of new 8-inch PVC water main in the 2300 to 2600 blocks of Ripley Avenue, the 2300 to 2400 blocks of Ives Lane, the 1200 block of Lilienthal Lane, and the 1200 block of Phelan Lane.
“This important infrastructure upgrade will enable us to keep delivering the reliable supply of safe, high-quality water that Redondo Beach residents and businesses count on for their drinking, cooking, handwashing, and other household needs. Additionally, it will ensure first responders have the water they need to protect the community in an emergency,” said District Manager Dan Armendariz. “As essential service workers, our crews work hard every day to deliver quality, service, and value to our customers.”
Work will be performed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Crews will make every effort to minimize traffic delays and temporary service interruptions to reduce any inconvenience and ensure residents continue to have the water they need during this time. Residents will be notified in advance of any planned shutdowns, which are normally scheduled during regular work hours.
Following installation, crews will conduct water quality testing before connecting existing individual customer service lines to the new water main. Crews will also restore all streets, sod, and landscaping impacted by the construction.
