Lower Colorado Dams Office announces Len Schilling as new area manager

The Bureau of Reclamation’s Lower Colorado Regional Director Terry Fulp has announced the selection of Len Schilling as the area manager of the Lower Colorado Dams Office (LCDO). Schilling will be responsible for overseeing the management and operations for three dams – Hoover, Davis and Parker – and their related services. He will also be accountable for facilitating the delivery of water to Arizona, California and Nevada, as well as Mexico, and for delivering clean, renewable hydropower.

“We are very pleased to have Len leading our flagship project on the Colorado River. He brings a wealth of experience from his Navy background and a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service” said Director Fulp.

Schilling joined Reclamation’s Lower Colorado Region in August 2015 as the chief of the Engineering Services Office (regional engineer), serving as lead technical advisor for the Region’s design and construction activities.

Schilling is a registered Professional Civil Engineer in the state of Washington. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Washington State University and a Master of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Florida. Prior to joining Reclamation, Schilling was the deputy director of Public Works at the Naval Base Kitsap (NBK) in Silverdale, Washington. NBK Public Works provides all facets of engineering, maintenance, construction and environmental management of $9 billion of facilities. The base supports 38,000 employees and 4,000 residents with an annual operating budget of $250 million. Schilling’s military and civilian time in the Navy spans nearly 24 years with several domestic and international posts and a variety of engineering-related responsibilities.

“I am excited to join with the terrific men and women who keep these crucial facilities operating, and who greet guests by the thousands every day,” said Schilling. “I look forward to being a part of the very important work we do every day in delivering water to the southwest and Mexico”.
