Travis Aberle has recently been named as the Assistant Regional Director for Business Services for the Bureau of Reclamation’s Mid-Pacific Region. As the Assistant Regional Director for Business Services, Aberle will oversee numerous administrative functions for the Mid-Pacific Region.
Prior to joining Reclamation, Aberle served with the U.S. Air Force for nearly eight years on active duty. He carried out extensive work as an instructor in law enforcement and security. More recently, Aberle served as a Supervisory Human Resources Specialist providing managers at all levels with counsel and support along with management advisory services in employee and labor relations, as well as staffing and reclassification.
“Travis is a strong leader and a dedicated public servant, and we are pleased to have him in this new role,” said Acting Regional Director Pablo Arroyave. “His personnel management abilities, exceptional labor relations skills and leadership experience make him uniquely qualified for this critical position.”
In his new role, Aberle will serve as the Region’s senior representative on Reclamation’s Chief Financial Officer’s Council. He will oversee human resources, financial management and audit liaison/review functions, acquisitions and property management, information technology and systems security, records management, and other administrative tasks for the Region. He is also responsible for coordinating and integrating program level efforts between all levels of the organization and will develop annual and long-term strategic plans to maximize support for Reclamation’s Mid-Pacific Regional programs.
Aberle’s administrative responsibilities will support Reclamation’s position as the largest wholesale water supplier in the United States and will aid in the agency’s role in providing flood control, water-related recreation, and fish and wildlife benefits.
Aberle is a 2009 bachelor’s graduate of California State University Sacramento with a concentration in government. Following his military service, he made a commitment to serve the public through the civil service; his new position with Reclamation fulfills that goal. He and his wife, Leslie, reside in Sacramento.
