Pasadena-based Tetra Tech, Inc. has been awarded a $113 million contract for technical support services for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Water. The five-year, multiple-award contract will support the EPA Office of Water’s Assessment and Watershed Protection Division.
Tetra Tech’s EPA contract calls for their assistance in the EPA’s efforts to develop comprehensive tools to promote watershed protection, assess and monitor water quality conditions, study point and nonpoint source pollution, and develop strategies for ecosystem restoration. This is one of many contracts that Tetra Tech has had with the EPA.
Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech Chairman and CEO, highlighted the company’s long-term relationship with the EPA when he recently said, “Tetra Tech’s scientists and researchers have supported EPA’s watershed management programs continuously since 1989. We are pleased to continue developing innovative tools for EPA that advance the science of watershed assessment and protection of our nation’s water resources.”
In addition to the elements of the new contract, Tetra Tech will also provide technical services to support the EPA’s mission in meeting the broad requirements under the Clean Water Act which affect rivers, lakes, streams, wetlands, and coastal waters throughout the United States. Tetra Tech will work with EPA regions, states, and other stakeholders on data analytics and the interpretation of water quality, land-use, and spatial data. These services include development of innovative management strategies to protect and reuse watershed, the development of water quality and economic models, and preparation of technical guidance documents and analytical methods.
The EPA’s Office of Water (OW) ensures drinking water is safe, and is tasked with restoring and maintaining oceans, watersheds, and their aquatic ecosystems to protect human health, support economic and recreational activities, and provide healthy habitat for fish, plants and wildlife. The OW works with the ten EPA regional offices, other federal agencies, state and local governments, American Indian tribes, the regulated community, organized professional and interest groups, land owners and managers, and the public-at-large.
