The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has announced it is now accepting proposals for projects under its FY 2018-19 Fisheries Habitat Restoration Proposal Solicitation Notice (PSN). The PSN invites restoration projects that meet the funding requirements for four projects including: the Commercial Salmon Stamp Program focusing on projects enhancing the salmon fishery; the Commercial Salmon Stamp Program focusing on projects enhancing the salmon fishery; the Fisheries Restoration Grant Program centered on the recovery of state-listed salmon and steelhead along the coast and in California’s Central Valley; the Forest Legacy Program focusing on the restoration of watersheds affected by historic forest practices; and, the Steelhead Restoration and Report Card Program intent on projects furthering the recreational steelhead fishery.
The CDFW has indicated that eligible projects could include habitat restoration, water conservation, education, monitoring and restoration planning. Qualified applicants could include public agencies, recognized tribes and specific nonprofit organizations.
CDFW is holding nine public workshops to provide information to applicants to assist them in understanding the PSN requirements. The workshops will be held beginning Feb. 20 through Feb. 28. All applicants, including those who have previously submitted proposals, are encouraged to attend one of the workshops. There are important updates in the 2018 PSN. Workshops will be held in:

Although the amount of grant funding for FY 2018-19 is not known at this time, grants of more than $15 million was made available to eligible projects in FY 2017-18. FY 2018-19 grants are expected to be awarded to approved projects in early 2019.
