The city of Folsom is looking forward to a new water well that’s being installed in a newer part of town. The state recently approved a grant that would allow the city to build the well, although the location was picked out in 2005.
Once the ground is drilled 200 feet, they city will install a pump and pipe to see how much water the well can hold and what the water quality will be. The well will be used for landscaping. It would be the only well in the area that is non-potable.
“If we can reduce the amount of water we take from Folsom Lake it can reduce the amount of potable water that the city does have to treat,” Marcus Yasutake, Folsom’s director of environmental and water resources told FOX 40.
It is estimated that the city will be able to pump 280 to 300 gallons of non-potable water per day once the pump and pipes are installed and tested at the end of the month.
