EMWD Begins Work on Sky Canyon Sewer Project

Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) is set to begin work on a new large-diameter sewer line in the French Valley area according to a statement on the District’s website.

The project includes installing more than 6500 feet of sewer line along Sky Canyon Drive from Borel Road to Murrieta Hot Springs Road and along Winchester Road in the unincorporated area of Murrieta.

The 36-inch sewer line will connect to the existing infrastructure near Hunter and Winchester roads.

The new sewer line is necessary to accommodate current demand and anticipated growth in the French Valley area. A significant portion of the newly constructed line will parallel the existing sewer line along Sky Canyon Drive.

“This project will help us reliably meet the wastewater needs of homes and businesses throughout French Valley today and tomorrow,” said Phil Paule, EMWD Board President.

During construction, one lane of Sky Canyon Drive will be closed, but access to businesses will remain open.

The project is estimated to cost $13,40200 and work is anticipated to be completed in Fall 2022.

EMWD provides water, wastewater service and recycled water to more than 850,000 people living and working within a 555-square mile service area in western Riverside County. It is California’s sixth-largest retail water agency.
