Cal Water Partners With Yuba-Sutter Economic Development Corporation To Provide Hardship Grants

Cal Water and Yuba-Sutter Economic Development Corporation have partnered to provide one-time “hardship” grants to offset a portion of customers’ past due water bills.

“We expect the shutoff moratorium due to non-payments to end soon, and we are concerned that customers faced with past-due balances may become overwhelmed,” said Cal Water District Manager Evan Markey. “We want to support those impacted by the coronavirus as much as possible and encourage all eligible customers to apply.”

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a Yuba County resident
  • Have a past-due bill
  • Meet maximum income qualifications (Household’s gross annual income must be at or
below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines)
  • Prove an economic hardship due to the pandemic

Applications do not go to Cal Water. Completed applications must be returned to Yuba-Sutter Economic Development Corporation by June 30, 3021, with a copy of the applicant’s 2020 federal tax return and June water bill.
