Adnan Anabtawi has been selected as Assistant General Manager of the Mojave Water Agency (MWA) effective August 1.
Hired as the Agency’s Senior Engineer in July of 2019, he was promoted to Imported Water and Engineering Manager in August of 2020. In that role, he managed the Agency’s Department of Engineering, provided direction to the Department of Operation and Maintenance, negotiated with the California Department of Water Resources and other state agencies on behalf of MWA, and developed Agency policy related to imported water, groundwater banking, and strategic planning.
“Adnan stood out due to his strong State Water Project and imported water background,” said General Manager, Allison Febbo. “His interdisciplinary skills and collaborative approach to solving complex problems will be invaluable in his role as Assistant General Manager.”
Anabtawi, who has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from University of California, Irvine; and a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University; worked at Stantec/MWH Global as a Senior and Professional Engineer before joining MWA three years ago. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of California and currently serves on the board for the Delta Conveyance Design and Construction Authority.
“I look forward to collaborating with the Agency’s exceptionally talented and dedicated team to develop creative solutions to unprecedented challenges our region is facing during this record drought,” he said of his new role.
Anabtawi replaces Yvonne Cox who has served as Interim Assistant General Manager since January. Cox has transitioned into the Interim Assistant Manager of Special Projects.
