Mojave Water Agency Board Treasurer Dr. Kimberly Cox has been reappointed to the Lahontan Regional Quality Control Board by Governor Gavin Newsom. This appointment, which extends her service through September 2026, is pending Senate confirmation.
Cox stated that she appreciates the Governor’s reappointment during this critical time of drought within our region. “There are many challenges facing water quality in California. If there was ever a time for the desert region to have a voice in water management, it is now,” said Cox. “I am pleased to be able to continue serving on the board to bring greater understanding to the challenges our desert communities face.”
She has served on the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board since 2013 when she was appointed by former Governor Jerry Brown.
The Lahontan Board’s Region Six is one of nine regional water quality boards in the state that operates under the State Water Resources Control Board. The state board is responsible for protecting water quality by setting statewide standards, issuing waste discharge requirements, determining compliance, and taking enforcement actions within the regional boundaries based on watersheds.
Region Six encompasses 12 counties including portions of San Bernardino, Modoc, Lassen, Sierra, Nevada, Placer, El Dorado, Alpine, Mono, Inyo, Kern, and northeast Los Angeles.
Dr. Cox has served as a member of the Mojave Water Agency Board since 2003 holding positions as president and vice president.
She currently serves as the Helendale Community Services District general manager, a position she has held since 2007, and is a member of the Local Agency Formation Commission for San Bernardino County since 2004.
Cox attended Victor Valley Community College and went on to earn a Master of Public Administration degree in Water Resource Management from California State University, San Bernardino, and a Doctorate in Public Administration from California Baptist University.
