The new year always signals the time for new projects and the Department of Water Resources is letting the public know they are still accepting applications for Urban Community Drought Relief Grants.
Public agencies, public utilities, special districts, mutual water companies, regional water management groups, colleges, universities, and non-profit organizations are eligible to apply for grants to fund turf replacement, conservation for urban suppliers and community drought relief projects.
Some of the eligible types of projects are:
- Projects that enhance local supply and climate resilience
- Drought resilience planning
- Water conservation activities
- Turf replacement
- New wells or rehabilitation of existing wells
- Installation of temporary or permanent community water tanks
- Fish and wildlife rescue, protection and relocation
Applications must be submitted by Jan. 31 and awards will be announced before March 2023.
