Upper San Gabriel Valley MWD launches new conservation program for underserved communities

The Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District has launched a new conservation program that will bring water use efficiency to households in underserved communities.

The program, Water Smart Home! allows eligible residents to select up to six water efficient devices to be installed at their home free of charge by the program’s consultant, EcoTech Services.  The District is offering leak repair kits, irrigation controllers, rain sensors, showerheads, and sprinkler nozzles as some of the available water-savings devices.

“Getting conservation items into as many homes as possible will help us achieve greater lifetime water savings in the region,” said Upper District President Ed Chavez. “This program targets our service area’s low-income communities that may need greater assistance and access to these water-saving devices.  We encourage our residents to take part in this program.”

Residents who wish to participate in the program are required to register by calling the toll-free number (866) 308-8391 or visiting the Water Smart Home website http://www.ecotechservices.net/wshp.  Once a residential address is qualified, Upper District’s program consultant will schedule an appointment for installing the devices free of charge.

Participation in the program is limited and devices are offered on a first come, first served basis.
