California American Water to acquire assets of Fruitridge Vista Water Company

California American Water (CAW), a subsidiary of American Water, has agreed to purchase Fruitridge Vista Water Company in south Sacramento county. CAW will purchase the assets of Fruitridge Vista Water Company for $20.75 million.

“We are pleased to have entered into a contract and look forward to serving customers in the Fruitridge area,” said California American Water’s Director of Northern California Operations S. Audie Foster. “Our Parkway water system is just south of Fruitridge Vista so we know the area well. This acquisition will allow Fruitridge Vista customers to take advantage of our excellent conservation and customer service programs.”

Fruitridge Vista is a family-owned Class B Water Utility. CAW is a water provider in both the Sacramento area and other location throughout the state. CAW supplies water to upwards of 60,000 Sacramento area homes and businesses and is a supplier for some 180,000 customers statewide. Founded in 1886 CAW’s parent company, American Water is now celebrating its 130th anniversary and employs more than 6,700 people to 15 million people in 47 states and Ontario, Canada. It is the largest publicly traded water and wastewater utility company in the United States.

“The contract agreement is a step forward and secures long-term quality service for our customers,” said Fruitridge Vista Water Company owner Robert C. Cook Jr.

Fruitridge Vista Water Company and California American Water are now seeking the approval of the sale and transfer of ownership from the California Public Utilities Commission.
