Workers disadvantaged by drought see new opportunities

Kern County’s economic development agency, known as the Employers’ Training Resources Program (ETR), just received funding from the federal government and the California Economic Development Department to provide temporary employment to those were impacted by the drought.

In order to qualify for this program, workers have to be unemployed for 27 weeks or more and/or lost their job as a result of the drought.

ETR is hiring the following jobs in the Tehachapi area:

· Groundskeepers

· Maintenance workers

· Building maintenance workers

· Road maintenance workers

· Mower repair technicians
