Myra Malner Selected as New Director of Finance for Rowland Water

After an extensive recruiting process, Rowland Water District is pleased to welcome Myra Malner to the staff as Director of Finance. Malner has more than two decades of experience working in controllership, internal and external audits, computerized accounting software systems, and professional tax and accounting services for water utilities and corporations.

“We are extremely pleased Ms. Malner is joining our team,” says Tom Coleman, Rowland Water District General Manager. “Myra is a recognized leader in the water and finance industries and I am confident the District and our customers will benefit from her vast experience.”

A native of the Philippines, Malner is a certified public accountant with a Master’s Degree in business management. She most recently worked as Director of Finance and Administration for the California Domestic Water Company in Whittier. Prior to that, Malner served as an accountant for Belden, Hiramoto, Liu & Co. LLP in Costa Mesa.

Malner’s passion for accounting can be traced back to her childhood in the Philippines.

“My mother worked as an accounting teacher and as a child, I learned how to write checks for my father’s business and helped my mother type up exams,” Malner explains. “I guess you could say that a love of numbers has been in my blood for a very long time.”

Malner also has the distinction of having co-authored two books: IFRS Made Easier and Bookkeeping (Philippine Publications).

“Myra’s strong grasp of municipal financing is important to the District’s stewardship of public funds,” adds Coleman. “We are extremely fortunate to have someone of her caliber on our team and look forward to her ongoing contribution to our District and our customers.”
