Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) has announced the promotion of Karla Romero to the post of Director of Finance. Romero previously served CVWD Controller for the past year.
Romero has more than 14 years of government finance experience, including serving as Finance Director/City Treasurer for Brawley where she also stepped in as Acting City Manager in the absence of the City Manager. Prior to that Romero was Finance Director/City Treasurer for the City of La Quinta and Senior Accountant for the Indio Water Authority.
At CVWD, Romero will oversee the District’s finances, and manage the accounting, finance, and procurement departments.
Romero holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University, San Bernardino and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
She is a member of the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers and the Government Finance Officers Association.
Romero replaces former Director of Finance Richard R. Aragon, who has accepted a post as Chief Financial Officer at the Rainbow Municipal Water District in Fallbrook.
