Worsley selected by Reclamation to oversee Lahontan Basin Area Office

The Bureau of Reclamation’s California Great-Basin Region recently announced Jack Worsley will be the Lahontan Basin Area’s new Office Manager.

As part of his duties, Worsley will oversee Reclamation activities in the watersheds of Lake Tahoe, the Truckee and Carson rivers, and much of northern Nevada and the operations of the Newlands Project.

“The Lahontan Area has always harbored a microcosm of all the challenges and conflicts facing water management in the Western United States. The job of Area Manager requires a special understanding of the underlying needs and desires of the many communities affected by water management decisions, and an ability to anticipate and navigate potential conflicts,” said Deputy Regional Director, Jeff Payne. “We are fortunate to be able to select Jack for this position. In addition to being a thoughtful leader, he has built strong, professional relationships in basin that are vital for collaboration with the Lahontan Area water users, stakeholders, and Tribal nations.”

Worsley previously served as the Deputy Area Manager in the Lahontan Basin Area Office. He has also served as the Willows Construction Office Manager, overseeing high priority construction projects throughout the Region, including the Truckee Canal Fish Screen, the Friant-Kern Canal Middle Reach Capacity Correction, and Safety of Dam projects at Boca and Stampede dams.

Prior to joining Reclamation, Worsley held positions as the Chief Operating Office of an aeronautics engineering company and as the General Manager of a Harley-Davison dealership. Worsley served 17 years on active duty in the United States Marine Corps achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. While serving with the Marines, he flew 127 combat missions.

Worsley holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University.
