A new social media campaign is shaping up to see how Californians across the state are doing their part to save water. #WaterYouDoing will be the hashtag used in an 11-day Twitter campaign composed of a partnership between Metropolitan Water District and Heal the Bay, San Diego Coastkeeper, L.A. Works, Amigos De Los Rios, WeTap, and LA Waterkeeper.

The partnership with MWD and these other water-conscious organizations is an effort to promote water savings. Each day will have a different theme, with graphics and original content. The 11-day time span was chosen so the campaign would run through Coastal Cleanup Day, on September 19th.

“This is a great opportunity to engage with Southern California’s conservation community to share information about activities, programs and ideas to save and protect our water supplies,” said MWD general manager Jeffrey Kightlinger. “Using social media, we can engage a broad audience in conversations with millions of people throughout the region about saving water now and into the future.”

In addition to asking residents what they are doing to help conserve water, the campaign will encourage residents to conserve water, even when the drought subsides.
