Mesa Water District eliminates outdoor watering for specific groups

After failing to meet its mandatory water conservation number in October, Mesa Water District, which covers parts of Costa Mesa and Newport Beach, decided to take drastic measures. Apartments, condominiums and business complexes are no longer allowed to do any outdoor irrigation.

Single-family residents, however, are able to water their lawns on Saturday before 8 a.m. or after 5 p.m.

To meet their goal of cutting water usage by 20 percent, the water district has also alerted customers to how much water they are using per hour through a data logger, known as Meter Masters.
