Nudist resort owners arraigned for water theft

The owners of Lupin Lodge, a nudist resort in Los Gatos, were recently arraigned for diverting water from a nearby creek to their property. The creek is owned by Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, located in Santa Clara County.

Glyn Stout and wife Lori Kay Stout are facing felony charges of conspiracy to commit trespassing for the purpose of injuring a property right and misdemeanor charges of trespassing, substantially diverting water, operating and/or leaving a motorized vehicle on a closed property and performing maintenance or clearance on a closed property.

The Stout’s installed pipes from the creek to their property, despite the water district’s warning to stop diverting water.

“This case is about a business who ran out of water last year in the middle of our drought and decided to divert water from their neighbors for their personal use,” Santa Clara County deputy district attorney told San Jose Mercury News.

Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District has video evidence showing where an old fire trail was cleared and water lines that ran to the lodge were installed.

Two resident-employees are also being arraigned on similar charges.

The Stouts could receive up to three years in jail if convicted.
