Water Education Foundation and CA Department of Water Resources Offer Free Briefing on “The Challenges of Water Project Operations”

A free briefing addressing water project operations will be held in Fresno on Tuesday, April 26 sponsored by the Water Education Foundation and the California Department of Water Resources in cooperation with the Center for Irrigation Technology.

Following last year’s reduced water allocations by both the State Water Project and the federal Central Valley Project as a result of the four years of historic drought, the question on everyone’s mind is “What are the plans for this year?” This upcoming briefing— “The Challenges of Water Project Operations” —will discuss hydrologic conditions, precipitation patterns, water project operations and groundwater conditions as they pertain to the local area.

The one-day briefing is for those individuals and organizations interested in understanding how this year’s hydrology is affecting water project operations. It is designed to provide on-going education regarding water operations and specifically targeted for members of the media, elected officials, legislative aides, water district managers and board members, state and federal agency officials, city and county government officials, farmers, environmentalists, attorneys, consultants, engineers, business executives and public interest groups.

The briefing will be held in the Alice Peters Auditorium (PB 191) in the University Business Center at California State University, Fresno. Check-in and registration will at 9:30 am. The briefing will conclude at 3 pm. For additional information and to register go to: www.watereducation.org/foundation-event/water-year-2016-challenges-water-project-operations
