Anabtawi appointed General Manager for Mojave Water Agency

Adnan Anabtawi has been appointed as the next General Manager for the Mojave Water Agency effective April 5. He had previously served as Assistant General Manager.

“The Board unanimously selected Adnan and has great confidence in his ability to lead this Agency,” said Board President Mike Page. “He brings extensive knowledge and is engaged in critical state water issues, has successfully managed key capital projects with the Mojave Water Agency, and has demonstrated his abilities to effectively work with staff to continue to enhance the Agency’s culture.”

Page also cited Anabtawi’s strong State Water Project and imported water background, as well as his interdisciplinary skills and collaborative approach to solving complex problems.

Anabtawi replaces General Manager Allison Febbo who has accepted another position.

“I am honored that the Board has put its trust in me to serve as the Agency’s next General Manager and advance its reputation of sustainably managing the region’s water resources,” said Anabtawi. “As we enter a paradigm of even greater extremes for water, I look forward to working with our dedicated staff to deliver creative, effective, and adaptive water management strategies to empower our communities to thrive for generations to come.”

Hired as the Agency’s Senior Engineer in July of 2019, Anabtawi was promoted to Imported Water and Engineering Manager in August of 2020. In that role, he managed the Agency’s Department of Engineering, provided direction to the Department of Operation and Maintenance, negotiated with the California Department of Water Resources and other state agencies on behalf of the Mojave Water Agency, and developed Agency policy related to imported water, groundwater banking, and strategic planning. Adnan was promoted to Assistant General Manager in August 2022.

Anabtawi, who has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Irvine; and a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University; worked at Stantec/MWH Global as a Senior and Professional Engineer before joining the Agency four years ago. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of California and currently serves on the board for the Delta Conveyance Design and Construction Authority.
