Grant funding available for small-scale water efficiency projects

Have a small-scale water efficiency project that will conserve or better manage water more effectively? Well, the Bureau of Reclamation has grants available just for you. The WaterSMART Small-Scale Water Efficiency Projects grant opportunity is open now through April 28.

“These small, community-led projects can help western communities address some of their water management issues,” said Reclamation Acting Commissioner David Palumbo. “The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is allowing us to reach many Western communities where they have identified a need but not necessarily the funding to complete the work.”

Eligible applicants include states, Indian Tribes, irrigation districts, or any other organization with water or power delivery authority in the Western United States or territories. The total project must cost less than $225,000. Applicants can receive up to $100,000 in funding.

Reclamation will host a webinar on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at 1 pm MST to discuss eligible applicants and project types, program requirements, and the evaluation criteria for this funding opportunity. Click here to join the live event or to watch a recording after the completion of the live event.

The funding opportunity is available at www.grants.gov by searching for opportunity number R22AS00195. Applications are due on April 28, 2022, at 4 p.m. MDT.
