Mojave Water Agency offers free water training classes

The Mojave Water Agency and California Rural Water Association, in support of the Integrated Regional Water Management Plan, will offer three free classes this fall as part of their small water systems training series.

Intermediate Water Math will be offered Sept. 28 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Participants should have pre-existing knowledge of basic math formulas. This course will cover mathematical equations including CT calculations, filtration, sedimentation, and solution mixing. Time will be provided to review and solve math problems. Participants can earn 3 SWRCB contact hours for this class.

Basic Hydrogeology and Well Design will be offered Oct. 19 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and will present basic concepts in groundwater hydrogeology. These concepts are useful in understanding sources and uses of water resources, constraints on the development of those resources and how to maximize production of groundwater while reducing the total cost over the life of a well. Participants can earn 4 SWRCB contact hours for this class.

Leak Detection and Water Loss Accountability will be offered Nov. 16 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Concepts taught will include four ways to reduce leakage, the art of leak detection, reactive and proactive leak management, review of preliminary survey zones and zone measurements, how to make estimates and more. Participants can earn 4 SWRCB contact hours for this class.

These no-cost workshops are beneficial for water operators and system managers of private, public, and tribal water systems. All sessions are held in the Mojave Water Agency Board Room located at 13846 Conference Center Drive in Apple Valley. A light lunch is included.
